founded in 1798, alkaline asylum for the ill began to take in anyone that mentally or physically posed as a threat towards the outside world. stationed in upstate michigan, the asylum is located in the barren town of ewell, michigan. originally, doctor peter harrison founded the asylum, with the intent of experimenting for cures on many of his patients, however, things didn't exactly go according to his plan. as generations continued to inherit the asylum, things grew more and more out of control. a series of murders within the institution erupted in 1890 and called for the asylum to be shut down as staff members were being killed by patients, and patients were being killed by fellow patients. no one knows what caused the sudden uproar, but it was always assumed that new, modernized experiments were being conducted to a point where it was intolerable to the patients. the town was quickly deserted by citizens as no one wanted to be in connection with the gruesome asylum. since then, the asylum remained closed down and citizens of ewell moved back into town, knowing it was safe and the asylum was no longer apart of anything. now, in 2010, the asylum has been reopened by the sherona family, who study the medical fields and are determined to revive people back to a stable mentality. rumors have been flying around that the sherona's aren't as nice as they seem. it doesn't seem like anyone's getting out anytime soon.
